Father Peter was ordained a priest in 1983 by His Beatitude Patriarch Josyf Slipyj at the Studite Monastery in the outskirts of Rome and began his parish ministry as an Associate Priest at St. Vladimir and Olga Church under the direction of Fr. Eugene Halitsky. He assisted at the parish in Windsor and also at the St. Nicholas Church in Amherstburg, Ontario and at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leamington. He also served as administrator both at St. Mary’s Hungarian Greek Catholic and St. Michael’s Slovak Greek Catholic Church for two terms each.
Fr. took a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Windsor in 1991 and began a career as teacher, department head, Vice-Principal and Principal at numerous schools in the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. He retired in 2019 from his profession in education and continued his work as Parochial Vicar with Fr. Tom Hrywna. In 2017 Fr. was elevated to the rank of Archpriest by Bishop Stephen Chmilar. In 2023 he was appointed administrator of St. Vladimir and Olga Church where he is presently serving. Fr. Peter is also a knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
Fr. Peter was married to Maureen Fediuk in 1982 and has two children – Nykolai and Alexandra. He has five grandchildren: Leo, Jeremy, Adam, Yuri and Isadora.
Fr. is a lover of fine music, museum and art gallery hopping, reading a wide variety of books, travelling, and being with his grandchildren.
